In order to identify a machine, the AppLic security control looks to certain hardware identities to manufacture a 'fingerprint' - a unique identity for the system running the software. Over time and sometimes in day to day use these values can change thus giving a different fingerprint. We have defined up to four system components which should maintain their identities in day to day use. However, in the event that they do not, this property exists as a kind of sensitivity switch. For example, for a value of 3 one of the hardware components could change without invalidating the license. NumberOfStrikes can range from 1 to 4, default value is 3.
